Please read these Terms and Conditions (“Agreement”, “Terms and Conditions”) carefully before using https://higgsandcrick.com (“the Site”) operated by Higgs & Crick (“us”, “we”, or “our”). This Agreement sets forth the legally binding terms and conditions for your use of the Site at https://higgsandcrick.com.
By accessing or using the Site in any manner, including, but not limited to, visiting or browsing the Site or contributing content or other materials to the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Capitalized terms are defined in this Agreement.
Orders can be made via the website Store, via the form on the Contact page, by phoning +44 (0) 207 859 4231 and via email. You will receive an order confirmation within 24 hrs and any additional information relating to your order.
We use a variety of couriers depending on the product and destination and while we do everything we can to adhere to delivery times stated, Higgs & Crick cannot be held responsible for any delays that are beyond our control. Very large items can often only be delivered to ground floor levels.
In order to keep certain goods in the best possible condition during transit, Higgs & Crick have specifically designed packaging to avoid damage. It is essential you keep this packaging until you are 100% satisfied with your order. If you wish to return your order for any reason we can only accept the product if returned in this original packaging. It is also essential to keep the packaging until you are 100% satisfied with the order because the delivery company will need to inspect the packaging if any complaints are raised.
We have strict quality control and all items are checked before dispatch but please inspect your goods on arrival and do not sign for them unless you are certain that they have arrived in good condition. If you are unable to check the contents on arrival please specify that you have inspected the box only (remark on its condition if possible) and please check goods within 24 hours of receipt. If you sign for the goods and they turn out to have been damaged, the transport company will not assume liability.
Delivery company disclaimer:
You should be aware that although our courier companies and delivery drivers take every care when delivering your products, we cannot be held responsible for any damages that occur to your property or possessions whilst the delivery is in process. It is your responsibility to take every care to cover any carpets or furniture and remove any valuables, including pictures, from the delivery area.

Our cancellation and returns policy is set in accordance with The Consumer Contracts Regulations – which came into force on 13 June 2014. There are 3 main points to note:
- Most, but not all, online orders can be cancelled, for example bespoke or personalised items can’t be. So if you have asked for certain elements that have been designed and manufactured to your specifications, then you won’t necessarily be covered by the regulations.
- Your right to cancel an order starts the moment you place your order and doesn’t end until 14 days from the day you receive your goods.
- Return your order as soon as possible – but don’t forget to get proof of postage.
If you wish to cancel your order you must do so via the online shop, or in writing, either by email at: email@example.com or by post to: Higgs & Crick, Office 3, Winstanley House, Market Hill, Saffron Walden, CB11 4AB. Any refunds are given by the same method as the original payment. You can cancel your order up to 7 days before the delivery date, and up to 14 days after you receive your goods.
Any refunds paid will exclude the original delivery and also the charge for returning the goods (unless they are faulty or damaged). The delivery charge is non-refundable and varies depending on how much Higgs & Crick originally paid for your order to be delivered to you. You will be charged the full amount if you fail to take reasonable care of items and causing damage to the product.
As previously stated, any products returned should be unused and in its original packaging. Therefore, please check your goods thoroughly to ensure you are satisfied before disposing of your packaging.
This cancellation policy does not affect your statutory rights.
We work hard to ensure your goods arrive in a perfect condition, however, if you should find any problem with your order please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will endeavour to rectify the problem.
The Periodic Table:
The ‘Standard’ form and content of the Periodic Table is ever-evolving with the advances in scientific discovery. Whilst there is no one single definitive layout, the one represented by Higgs & Crick its Periodic Table is the most commonly accepted one. That said, the nature of science means that the details regarding the various elements is subject to constant change. We cannot be held responsible for changes made to the ‘standard’ table and any table purchased is sold as seen. We will make updates when we can, however, we will not make those changes retrospectively to tables already purchased.
We try to display our products as accurately as possible on our website and in print. However, as different computers display different colours, we cannot guarantee the complete accuracy of the pictures or photographs shown.
Wood appearance, warpage, shrinkage, and dimensional changes in all products:
Wood appearance may vary in colour and grain and may contain knots and other markings – we cannot accept returns on the basis of natural variations. Wood is also an active material, that can have subtle changes in size and shape depending upon moisture, temperature, humidity etc. The woods we use have been dried and/or treated to correct moisture content but sometimes warpage, shrinkage etc, can still occur, especially when the furniture or art pieces are shipped to areas with differing environmental conditions. We will accept returns if the timber treatment was at fault but we cannot accept returns that stem from climactic differences. Should movement occur in the wood addressing issues of temperature and moisture usually resolves the issue.
The grout in which the Periodic Table tiles have been set has a high moisture content which is then dried out adequately, however minor warping in the wood on which the tiles have been laid could occur. Whilst Higgs & Crick have taken every precaution to prevent this from happening, we cannot be held responsible for some minor warpage. If there are any significant issues, we will do our best to resolve them.
